CHIEF JUSTICE OF SUPREME COURT DELIVERS REMARKS IN INDONESIA- NETHERLANDS RULE OF LAW AND SECURITY

Jakarta-Public Relation: “The system of reading files simultaneously which applied in chamber system has solved gradually the pile of pending cases. In the Press Conference at the end of 2017 on 28 December 2017, I declare that until December 28, 2017, the total number of cases in the Supreme Court was 1,571, and the amount was 33.35% less than the total 2,257 cases in 2016, this is the lowest number in the history of the Supreme Court, "said Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Dr. M. Hatta Ali., SH., MH., In his remarks to the Indonesia-Netherlands Rule of Law and Security event in Yustinus Room 15 Atma Jaya University Jakarta, Thursday 18 January 2018.

The system of reading files simultaneously is a policy issued by the Supreme Court developed in collaboration with the Hoge Raad of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Besides, the result of cooperation in other judicial fields is the existence of chamber system, decision formats, and others. The judicial cooperation between the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia and the Netherlands Hoge Raad is currently in the third cycle. The first cycle of this cooperation was under the umbrella of the Inter Governmental Group for Indonesia (IGGI) which was finally stopped in 1992. The second cycle is when The Supreme Court led by Bagir Manan and Harifin A.Tumpa, and when the judicial cooperation was in the semi-formal stage, without a Memorandum of Understanding, and limited to thematic programs that include dialogue and exchange of visits.

In 2013 the third cycle started when The Memorandum of Understanding in Judicial cooperation between Supreme Court of Republic of Indonesia and Netherlands signed by Hoge raad leader at that time namely President Geert Corstens dan Prof. Dr. Hatta Ali., SH., MH.

The cooperation between two countries will come to fourth cycle. The extending of this cooperation will be signed on Friday January 19, 2018 in Indonesia’s Supreme Court.

“I do believe go forward that cooperation between Republic of Indonesia and Kingdom of Netherlands will face the bright future, as well as in judicial cooperation. The concrete way needed in cooperation according to beneficiary and respect each other.” Said Hatta Ali in his remarks.

In that occasion, President of Hoge Raad Mr. M.W.C. Feteris also delivered the remarks. Students, lecturers, Non-Governmental Organization, and the other invitation attend the seminar. (Azh/RS)
