THE PRESIDENT OF INDONESIA THANKS TO THE SUPREME COURT
Jakarta-PR: The Supreme Court held the special session of the Annual Report on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 at the Jakarta Convention Centre. The event that aimed to do responsibility and transparency to the public presided by Supreme Court Chief Justice Prof. Dr. H. M. Syarifuddin, S.H., M.H. This Supreme Court annual report attended by President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo.
On that occasion, the former of Governor DKI Jakarta thanked the Supreme Court for developing, reforming, and playing an essential role in strengthening the rule of law and good governance.
The Government appreciated the Supreme Court's innovations in the acceleration of law transformation as the increase of the utilization of the e-court system and the artificial intelligence-based Decision Support System (DSS) development that will convenience the decision consistency through a justice decision that entered into before, said Jokowi.
According to him, Indonesian people appreciated the commitment of transparency to them. There are about 22 thousand accessible decisions that have been published in the Decision Directory.
“I got the report that the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia in 2023 has decided 99.4 percent of cases that were available, and this was a good development,” said Jokowi, applauded by the guests of the Annual Report.
Jokowi has welcomed the internal reformation that was implemented by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia to establish the rule of law and good governance principles and to implement the sustainability of court performance in the Republic of Indonesia.
The President expected the reformation of law systems to be a crucial component of the nation's development.
He also said that the people's expectation of the judiciary has increased, they have demanded the guarantees of justice, and they have become more critical of the judiciary process and more open to expressing their assessments.
In the middle of these challenges, the President emphasized the importance of integrity as the primary principle for all judges in Indonesia, including the Supreme Court Justices, all registrars, all civil servants, and all apparatus of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Supreme Court will be the reconciliation and the role model for all judges in Indonesia and become the hope of justice for all people.
For him, the quality of the Human Resources of a Judge is also the essential key to integrity, professionality, the sensibility to public justice, and the development of an era including science and technology.
There for, according to President, the reformation was not only adopting new technology but also innovation, new perspective, and sensitivity to settle any law cases; the example could be an implementation of the restorative justice system as the innovation of the settlement of any law cases.
Besides President, this Annual Report was also attended by the Deputy Chief Justice For Judicial Matters of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, All of the Chairpersons of Chambers of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Supreme Court Justices, Ad Hoc Justices, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Malaysia, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Singapore, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Kuwait, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Qatar, Delegation of Sudan, Delegation of Australia, Delegation of China, and Delegation of Russia. All of the Ministers of Indonesia Maju Cabinet, the Attorney-General of the Republic of Indonesia, Commanders of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Chiefs of Police of the Republic of Indonesia, all ambassadors of fellow countries, all of the retired Chiefs Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, all of the Chairpersons of Appellate Court, all of the Chairpersons of First Court, and other guests.
