INTEGRITY IS THE MAIN PRINCIPLE OF DIGNIFIED JUDICIARY

INTEGRITY IS THE MAIN PRINCIPLE OF DIGNIFIED JUDICIARY

Bali-PR: I will always remind all judges and all judicial apparatus concerning integrity as the essential key for completing any judiciary duties because integrity is our main principle to realize a dignified judiciary, therefore integrity must be applied to all judges and judicial apparatus.

That statement was expressed by Prof. Dr, H. M. Syarifuddin, S.H., M.H., the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, on Friday, 23 February 2024, at the ballroom of Trans Bali Hotel in technical supervising and judiciary administration event for all chiefs, judges and judicial apparatus of the Military and State Administrative jurisdictions of the entire Indonesia.

According to him, integrity comes from the deep of someone’s heart and it is related to the spiritual condition, so integrity might not be developed by an education. This is the reason why there are many people who are intellectually intelligent but do not have integrity.

“Therefore, we have to preserve our integrity by always praying to God for gaining strength and firmness to ourselves for facing temptations and challenges so we remain on the straight path of the laws, ethic codes, or religious regulations,” Prof. Syarifuddin said.

ADHERENCE TO THE CHAMBER’S PLENARY AGREEMENT OF THE SUPREME COURT

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia annually issues the chamber's plenary agreement as guidance in performing any applicable judiciary duties whether it is issues and new cases or revision of the chamber's plenary agreement through the Circular from the Supreme Court.

In this event, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court also said the chamber's plenary agreement is the guidance for all Judges and Apparatuses of the Supreme Court and all judges and apparatuses of the appellate court and the first court. This chamber's agreement is adopted in order to build the unity of law enforcement and the consistency of judgment in a case with the same legal issues as from the first court to the cassation court and the Judicial Review.

He also hoped that all judges and judicial apparatus have always learned every Chambers Plenary Agreement and implemented it as the guidance for completing any judiciary duties therefore any disparity of judgment to the same legal issues might be minimized.

This supervising event was attended by the Deputy Chief Justice for Judicial Matters, all Chairpersons of Chambers, Ad Interim of the Director General of the Military and State Administrative Judiciary, Official of Echelon II in the Supreme Court, Chiefs/Heads of the appellate court and first court, and other guests.
