CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT INAUGURATES TWO NEW DIRECTORS GENERAL

Jakarta-PR: Prof. Dr. H. M. Syarifuddin, S.H., M.H. the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia inaugurates Drs. Muchlis, S.H., M.H. as the Director General of Religious Courts and Yuwono Agung Nugroho, S.H., M.H. the First Marshal of Indonesian National Armed Forces as the Director General of Military and State Administrative Courts on Monday, 18 March 2024, in the Kusumah Atmadja room of the Supreme Court Building on the 14th floor.

These two Directors General inauguration are  according to the Presidential Decree Number 14/TP of 2024 dated 8 March concerning Termination and Appointment from the Middle High Leadership Positions in the Secretary of the Supreme Court Jurisdiction.

According to the Decision Letter of the Secretary of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia No. MA/Sek/07/III/2006 dated 13 March 2006 Concerning Organization and Procedural Guidelines of the Secretariat of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, the duties of the Director General are assisting the Secretary of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia to formulate and to implement policies and technical standards in managing technical resources, managing judicial administration, protocol, implementation of each Judicial jurisdiction of the Court and the Supreme Court.

Relating to that, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court states that the director general position is not an easy job, it is the essential position of the supporting unit in the Supreme Court. Furthermore, he said that gaining trust is not only a job but it is an integral part of our faith in the One Almighty God.

“Your shoulders have a big responsibility to bring and develop justice for Indonesia and your hands have an authority; these two are the pillars of strategic programs sustainability of the Supreme Court in the future, especially in your jurisdiction. Manage this trust as well as possible,” he said.

Prof. Dr. H. M. Syarifuddin, S.H., M.H., who also a Professor of Diponegoro University mentioned the essential two pillars to the new Directors General which are transparency and accountability that support integrity and public trust in the court, particularly if related to the budget absorption in which the public has the right to know how the state budget is being spent.

“I instruct all Echelon I Officials, Chairperson of Appellate Court, and Chairperson of First Court, to be obligated to supervise the payment of the State Budget for each work unit by unexpected check at least one (1) time in three (3) months and report to the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Non-Judicial Matters,” he said.

The Two Directors' General Identities

Muchlis is a man who was born in Lubuk Linggau on 10 August 1966. Before being inaugurated as the Director General of the Religious Court, he was a High Judge in the High Religious Court of Palembang. He replaces Dr. Drs. Aco Nur S.H., M.H. as the Director General because the position period has expired.

Muchlis started his career as a judge as a staff at the Religious Court of Lubuk Linggau in 1993. Then, he became a judge candidate at the Religious Court of Lubuk Linggau in 1994, and three years later in 1997, he was appointed to be Judge of the First Court. He is also an Alumnus of Bengkulu University. Before becoming the Director General he occupied several positions as follows:    

  1. Deputy Chief Judge of Kayuagung Religious Court (2010)
  2. Chief Judge of Tanjung Pandan Religious Court (2012)
  3. Chief Judge of Muara Enim Religious Court (2013)
  4. Deputy Chief Judge of Lubuk Linggau Religious Court (2015)
  5. Chief Judge of Lubuk Linggau Religious Court (2017)
  6. Deputy Chief Judge of Bengkulu Religious Court (2020)
  7. Deputy  Chief Judge of Central Jakarta Religious Court (2020)
  8. High Judge of Jambi High Religious Court (2021)

Meanwhile, Yuwono Agung Nugroho is a man who was born in Wonogiri on 14 June 1969. Before being inaugurated as Director General of Military and State Administrative Courts, he occupied the Head of the Laws and Regulations Bureau in the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense. He replaced Lulik Tri Cahyaningrum S.H., M.H. the previous Director General who has become the Supreme Court Justice.

This alumnus of Padjadjaran University started his career as a Kaurbankum Pakum of Hasanuddin Air Force Base in 1995. Then, he became Pakum of Palembang Air Force Base in 1996.

Before becoming the Director General he occupied several positions as follows:  

  1. PS Kasubsi Karplin Sidatakara Subdis Dargakumau (1999)
  2. PS Kasi Tarkum Subdis Dargakum Diskumau (2004)
  3. Pamen Diskumau (2004)
  4. Kakum Lanud Atang Senjaya (2005)
  5. Kasi Bankumil Subdis Bankum Diskumau (2005)
  6. Kasi Bankumperda Subdis Bankum Diskumau (2009)
  7. Kakum Korpaskhas (2013)
  8. Kakum Kohanudnas (2016)
  9. Sesdikumau (2019)

In the closing segment of this event, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court expresses his gratitude to Bambang Hery Mulyono, S.H., M.H., as the Acting Director General of Religious Courts and H. Bambang Myanto, S.H., M.H., as the Acting Director General of Military and State Administrative Courts, who have shown their genuine dedication to the institute by leading the organization key of echelon I unit well and full of dedication for more than 1 year, until the new definitive officials have been inaugurated.

“I hope their dedication will be rewarded the best goodness by The Almighty,” he said.
